CABO DE RAMA FORT
INTRODUCTION TO CABO DE RAMA
Portuguese claimed the Cabo de Rama Fort after defeating the Raja (King) of Soonda and renovated it subsequently. In the past, the fort has switched hands between Hindu, Muslim monarchs and the Portuguese and witnessed many battles in history. The present rickety structure with turrets and rusty cannons is a leftover of the Portuguese. The Portuguese equipped it with 21 guns and military barracks, as well as commandant quarters and a chapel. It was abandoned when the Portuguese left this place. Later, this fort housed a government prison till 1955 and was abandoned again. Today, this fort is in ruins, but is a popular tourist attraction of Goa
LOCATION TOTHE FORT
The Cabo do Rama fort is located close to Agonda beach and falls on the way to the famous Palolim beach in Goa.
The site is being preserved by the Archaelogical Survey of India and you can still see the cannons that would wreck havoc on incoming enemy ships. The fort is din a state of dis repair but one can imagine the formely impression towards the fort
There is a step winding pathway that leads to a small cove that nestles a tiny rocky beach.
Overall a quaint and satisfying experienceFound this somewhere on net, then went ahead to explore the place. Route is very calm n beautiful, views from the outside are magnificent and one can have awesome clicks from the fort and outside the entrance with magnificent sea views.
Fort is quite old and not left with beautiful architecture, but there is one church in excellent position within the fort.
But one can have awesome views from there and there is one place Chadru's restra just a km ahead from the fort, from where one can have ultimate viewed of the Cabo de Rama beach and the Arab ocean.
One can visit this place if you are in South Goa, or if you are nature lover.
Recommended.
